Best graphics?
I wanted to know some opinions.

I personally think that Mass effect 3 had the highest graphics in a weird way. The game itself seems to have regular graphics but then film grain makes it look like a real movie unlike the same effect in other games.

Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the gameplay. The PC version is by far one of the most terrible ports I had the chance to play. Don't even bother with the game unless all you care for is graphics.

I think Bulletstorm could easily fall into 2ND. Crysis 2 is the same game engine and the graphics are pretty much equal but it feels like something is still missing.

Never played the game, but I heard that Mafia 2 could easily be on top. I never payed attention to it considering its poor ratings. Not only that it's only about 5 gigs. You'd think the highest graphics are from a much bigger game. I checked it out on YouTube and I think what people say might be true.

The witcher 2 is coming out tommorrow and by the previews looks quite amazing. They talk about how they actually did make everything move individually which is something that needs to be done on games more often.

RE: Best graphics?
I've never played Metro 2033 but I've head it's like the most GPU intensive game around.

Intel i5 3570k@4.5ghz
ASUS P8P67 WS Revolution
Gigabyte GTX 670
Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz (2x4gb)
Corsair F115 SSD
Corsair F60 SSD
Corsair 600T
Corsair H100 Push/Pull
Western Digital Caviar Black 500gb
Seagate Barracuda 3TB HDD

RE: Best graphics?
"Most GPU Intensive" does not neccesarialy mean "Most visually appealing graphics"

As a programmer, most of the engines that do look nicest, tend to look nicest because they efficiently design their shaders and instead of just dumping a bunch of shaders into the graphics engine and have it vomit brightly-coloured bloom in your face. There's a lot of design choices there, and just heaping everything into the engine and thus the GPU just tends to make everything look, at best very visually busy, and at worse, just a mess.

That makes allot of sense. It kind of goes back to why I think Mass effect 2 looks so nice.

To think about it, it's exactly the same when you watch movies. One shader could make it look that much better. You put too many and you might as well forget it.

plus you have to admit that with PC games, there is such a huge variation in equipment that each system becomes unique, and therefore individually subjective. I guess thats why we keep upgrading and upgrading with the futile hope that we'll see better FPS on bigger resolutions.

RE: Best graphics?
I hate hate hate how Mass Effect 2's bloom shader looks under the new shader models. I actually turn off the related settings when I run it on newer cards.

I only played for about 30 mins before I got angry with the mouse sensitivity. I didn't see much wrong with the graphics.

ROFL.

My problem with a lot of games today is well described by Zero Punctuation when he said the characters in one of the Call of Duty games were "a gray blob in a gray blob fest". This is so true, games seem to be getting more "washed out" looking and blurry instead of more detailed.
