How Do I Play Games on Multi-Monitor??
Just wondering how to play games like DIRT 2, across 2 or 3 monitors. I have an ASUS ENGTX570, it does support up to three monitors, and I DO have three monitors. I've seen DIRT 2, especially, being played on dual and tri-moitor setups. I searched google, but just keep finding videos of people that already did it. A step by step would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!! Smile

as far as i know, plug monitors into the appropriate ports, the card's software and your operating system should figure things out.

the GTX 570 can only support two monitors; the mini HDMI shares its clock generator with one of the DVI ports, meaning that the card can drive two monitors max.

triple monitor setups from a single video card are only possible with radeon HD5000 series and up. the three monitors have to be the same resolution as well, otherwise it would pick the lowest common resolution, which can result in distortions.

Its worth keeping in mind that per-screen draw buffers were a DirectDraw change in DirectX 10. Games which use DirectX 9 or below may have difficulty with multi-monitor setups since both screens use a unified buffer in these older versions.

OpenGl does not have these problems AFAIK, nor dies Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL). If you have the latest nVidia kernel you shouldnt have problems with this in Linux.

I have 2 ATI 6950 in dual mode, and from what ATI website is saying Civilization V is playing on 2 or more monitors, but on my computer it does not, it only play on the monitor that is in front of me and the second one has the desktop, at least its half

Things like that are highly game specific. Games that do support multiple monitors, usually require you to enable a setting for multiple monitor support. I don't have Civ 5 so I can't provide specifics for it, sorry.

Thanks for that information but I never found anything to set the two monitor, and from what I get from the ATI website it would only work with an ATI card and not with a Nvidia. So far the only "game" that work with 2 monitor is Flight Simulator X, which does not requires anything but having the monitors pluged in

As of ... well I cant remember when actually late 2010, any game which has the nVidia "How its meant to be played" logo should work with all the capabilities of the latest nVidia drivers, including multiple displays.

It mostly depend on what game, I know for a fact that it is not all games that are capable of using multi-monitor, in fact it is very few that do
