.mpp files to open in full project
We have special software based on the web that sits on IIS and allows you to open documents on the website. his includes links to project files (.MPP). But it so happened that when you click on the link to open the file, it tries to open inside the browser window. This opens for some users but others are presented with a blank screen (all have project 2010 installed). It only happens with one particular file.
The second issue is that by open from within IE in creates a ready only view whereby the customer wants the link to open in full MS Project so they can update the file.
So the main question is there anyway to force the file to open in full MS project either by setting a mime type or similar on the IIS server or a setting on the clients PC?
Thanks in advance

Please check if this helps.

1. If you are viewing the MPP file inside IE browser, there may be a IE add-on for that. Please identify the add-in and disable it.

2. If it only happens with one file, then it is likely that it is damaged. can for this to try to use Project Repair Kit for repair ms project file. http://www.project.repair/

3. Check if the fix given following helps.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/162059/en-us

4. FileTypesMan freeware utility may help you. Also, can you open IE in no add-ons mode 'iexplore.exe -extoff' and check if MPP files are opening inside IE browser. This helps in understanding if any browser add-on is involved.
