Want to Build a Gamer - Help Please!
Hey Everyone! It's been a few years since my last build. Walked into the Kingston location and they set me up with this:

Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. M4A87TD/USB3 (AM3)
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 260
Video: Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 512MB
RAM: 2GB DDR3

Running an old WD 250 GB IDE Drive which will have to be replaced (Power on Time Total 1224.0 days...) and a USB 300GB external drive.

Here's my dilemma: Need for Speed Rivals will only run on this system at the lowest resolution...LOL

So, I have $700 to use to upgrade. Help! I haven't kept up on computers over the past few years and don't even know where to start!

I'm thinking I'm going to sell off the old system in its entirety and start fresh.

Rob
Oh, another question. If I were to list my current system on Kijiji, what do you think I should ask for it? It's running Windows 8.1 Pro 32bit and has the specs from above.

Best bet for me would be to buy a APU build and buy a video card in a couple of months.

Otherwise you're best to follow

$680... plus tax. best I can do. you'll have to jack your own OS. Tongue

alternative: find an AMD Phenom processor, keep your mobo, but get more RAM, a real HDD, and a new GPU.

Thanks for the info everyone. Another quick question, I've been doing some googling, but not coming up with an answer.

What's the best cpu I could toss into my current mobo? ASUSTeK Computer Inc. M4A87TD/USB3 (AM3)

Your best bet would be to check the CPU support for that specific mobo:
http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/list....9wlNIYHAaa

You can go for the highest priced one, or within your budget... You can take into account the BIOS version you have on your mobo right now or FLASH it with a current one and not worry about it...
