ASUS VE228H Stuck/Dead Pixel
Hey guys,

So I ended up going with this monitor for mom dukes:

ASUS VE228H, 21.5" LED Widescreen Monitor
- 1920x1080, 5ms(GtG), 10M:1(ASCR)
- VGA, DVI-D, HDMI, Built-in Speakers

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_i..._id=036231

So I picked it up and about middle right of the screen I noticed there is a GREEN PIXEL. Not sure if stuck or dead pixel or green-sub dead pixel, because on certain colors you cannot see it but on black backgrounds and blue backgrounds its clearly noticeable and stuck green.

I just wanted to know if CC or ASUS has any kind of warranty against one stuck or dead pixel ... or am I stuck with this pixel for the duration and lifespan of this monitor. I am kinda pissed off these days, like I would rather have monitors cost more money to ensure panels came with 0 Dead Pixels ever.

Now the stock in Mississauga says 10+ but I only saw 2 boxes on the shelf when I went to go pick it up on Friday. So outta my luck I get the one with the stuck/dead pixel. Anything I can do or am I 'RIMMED' as Bungz would say.

Thanks.

Unfortunately they're only considered defective if you have like 5 dead(or stuck) pixels, as per Manufacturer.

We do offer a $5 dead pixel warranty that covers you for 30 days, but I imagine from the way you wrote this that you were not offered this coverage

These are my own personal opinions and do not reflect those of the company or my fellow employees

Hey, thank you for the prompt reply. No I was not offered this coverage. I mean I already spent $12.25 for the monitor recycling fee on top of purchase price and additional 13% for HST, so I would have not had a problem paying an extra $5 to cover the cost of repacking the monitor, driving to and back from the store and replacing the dead pixel monitor. Not to mention I wasn't really getting any real help from the staff at Mississauga when I was looking around for help and etc, trying to compare the ASUS panel to the ACER IPS panel with speakers that was $10 cheaper. The rep just tagged my monitor with his sales when I finally found someone to help me with the video card purchase.

Now that its been on for a few hours it's not even coloring up anymore so it has 'died' apparently. Can you or an admin help me out in what to do?

Can I bring it back and pay the fee and exchange the panel? I don't want to be stuck with a dead-pixel monitor. Seeing that wasn't the only thing I got there that day. I got an HDMI video card to go HDMI to HDMI and the cable of course (because the monitor doesn't come with HDMI so I had to buy my own) so all of the other packaging is un-opened. Just the monitor and a bit of plastic.

So yea .... can I come and exchange the panel?

I believe Asus has a no dead pixel warranty, you should call them.
And AFAIK they also have a great policy on RMA.

Asus only has a Dead Pixel Policy on the PA Series

If the monitor has officially given up the ghost, it shouldn't be an issue exchanging it

Yea Defiant, I just grabbed the thing Friday at 6pm from the Mississauga CC location, I am just worried that they might give me a hard time about it since its only 1 or 2 dead squares in the middle right of the screen.

Bungz, the monitor doesn't say final sale. I am just not sure what the Mississauga CC location will say about this that I'm complaining about 1 or maybe 2 dead pixels on the screen. Like I don't wanna be anal about it, but I don't want these damn things on the screen. Especially after dropping 400 there on vid card, cables and taxes and etc, on Friday night. Not sure what they are gonna say.

And the sale price ended today so tomorrow its going back to full price. $169 or whatever ....

I don't understand what you meant by given up the ghost. The pixel(s) is/are dead for sure, its not my imagination. It's there as soon as the f-er turns on. Its noticeable right after POST.

RE: ASUS VE228H Stuck/Dead Pixel
If the dead pixel are in the middle of the screen they're more noticeable so it's not the same rule as if they were on the edge or the corners.

Sorry, when you said it died, I thought you meant the whole monitor not the one pixel, my mistake
