cellphone solution/alternative
Basically my Xperia x10 broke down on me (would constantly freeze/crash in an infinite loop) and i sent it to rogers to fix. Its past 1 year so the warranty doesn't cover it anymore but i thought i wouldn't mind spending a little to fix it. Turns out the total cost is over $1000, and they offered me some choices for a replacement phone. However all the phones i see still require me to pay an additional $200+ and its only a refurb. So i simply asked for my broken phone back but now when ever i try to surf the internet or use applications (ex. angry birds Blush) my phone crashes.
Anyone know any cheap solutions other than buying a new phone ?

(sry haven't been on these forums lately, lots of school work Tongue)

Its not that i really love this phone, i just don't want to spend $200+ on a refurb or $600 on a brand new one.

Well I think Rogers (well the guy(s) you talk to anyway) may be trying to fool you.
1000$ repair that's suspicious unless you pay the phone for twice that price.
Otherwise I can't really help use since I barely use any phone and know close to nothing about dealing with Rogers.

Asus GTX570 @850/1700/4000MHz 1001mV
Corsair Vengeance 8Gb @1600MHz
Corsair 500R

RE: cellphone solution/alternative
You could try talking to Rogers retentions and ask them to give you a better deal, your a loyal customer, look what happened to your phone, blah blah, and maybe they will work out a deal like oh, sign another year contract (lock in) if you are on a contract and we'll send you a new phone for $50 or $100 .... sometimes you can get deals like that through retentions.

My friend did that with Fido for his iPHONE love. Busted his 3G was 2 years in the contract 1 year left, they made him sign another 2 years, so bumping it back up to 3 years again and gave him a 4S for $150 some sort of deal through retentions. You could always try one of those options.

Or flea market, or one of those discount tech stores like Factory Direct, Tech Direct, etc etc .....

Well i'm actually planning on leaving Rogers Blush. Not really a loyal customer since this is my first 3 year contract with them and i only have about a year left. Was just wondering if there is some sort of alternative i could stick with until my contract is over.

And yes i'm kinda of suspicious too if they are simply saying they can't repair my phone just so they could resell it.

Repair can't be that high even if they have to remove and change a chip on the PBC I don't think it would cost that much.
