RE: Mail in rebate - is it a scam?
My experience is from OCZ.

However to their credit, emailing Sandria Tran with proof that you followed the instructions properly = rebate direct from OCZ HQ.

I don't think that other companies will do that.

I remember in the beginning that the redemption pools would never dry up... (only 10-20% redemption), but if it's $30+ like it is with most SSD drives, the redemption's went well over 80% lolol.

I've filled a rebate going to some address in southern Ontario.
It was $5 for an Adata SD Card from CC.
Waited for months, and last I saw, they said they mailed the money but it never arrived.

Don't ever get rebates.

MIB's are the original private information marketing collection scheme. Or at least in the context of IT they are.

If you're on the Do Not Call list it's still illegal unless you specifically consented to the calls on the MIB's as I call them (Mail In Bullsh**!) But usually the fine print includes this. Make sure you read the fine print, they'll screw you with it if you don't.

That's funny I have recieved every rebate I have submitted except for a Sony one..
I've done Asus, Patriot, Ocz and many others..
I just follow the rules they set That's it..
If it says to use red ink then I use red ink..
I guess I'm lucky Plus I send it in right away as soon as I get the product home I do the rebate right away..

It's basically a crap shoot but as long as you send it in immediately after purchase your chances are high that you'll get it. The chances are always high the information will be used for marketing purposes though Tongue

RE: Mail in rebate - is it a scam?
ASUS is the biggest rip off for mail in rebate. They will never send you money. I tried several time and called them, they always declined me, pretending that was missing document or CPU code. When I challenge them, saying that I have copy of what I sent to them their replied is always the same. "It's now too late the time expired."

Rip off company don't buy Asus!!
